Short-chain Fructo-oligosaccharides (scFOS) / Oligofructose – Soluble prebiotic dietary fibers produced from sugar beet sucrose by bio-enzymatic process.

Composition :

Actilight® contains short chain fructo-oligosaccharides (scFOS). They are Glucose-Fructose (GF) chains with a Degree of Polymerisation (DP) between 3 and 5 and with a well-defined, consistent composition.

Actilight® Powder : 95% FOS and 5% sugars.

Actilight® syrup: from 55 to 95% FOS

Description, Properties, Potential Health Claims :

Actilight® is slightly sweet  and can be used as a food ingredient for nutritional and health purposes:

  • Sugar reduction (glycaemic index reduction, health claim approved by EFSA)
  • Fiber enrichment
  • Prebiotic effect on intestinal microbiota

Potential Application :

Actilight® shows a taste profile and rheology similar to sucrose, is highly soluble, acts as a flavor enhancer. It can be used in a wide range of food products:

  • Fruit preparations
  • Biscuits, cakes, bakery products
